[MYIU] Fansupport for 2024 IU HEREH World Tour Concert

On January 16th, IU announced that she would be holding her first worldwide concert tour titled HEREH (formerly known as H.E.R.) in cities such as Seoul, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, etc. The following is detailed compilation of IU Malaysia Fanpage (MYIU)'s fansupport for the tour...

#1 Preparation

1. Planning Phase

As soon as IU announced her world tour, our team immediately began brainstorming for fan project ideas. Our admin has also had a physical meeting with iMe Malaysia team, who then helped pass our fan project proposal to the artist management, EDAM Entertainment for review and further approval. Special thanks to Ms. Shin and Joan for the wonderful hospitality and assistance.

In anticipation of IU's second visit, we designed a chirpy canary character named YOOHOO μœ ν›„, who symbolises the beautiful friendship between IU and KU-AENA. YOOHOO was born in 2019, when IU first set foot on Malaysian soil. Its hobbies are stanning IU πŸ’œ, shopping πŸ›οΈ and spreading joy πŸ₯°

2. Donation Drive

We ran a donation drive from Jan 28th ~ May 20th to fund our concert fan project. We also gifted the contributors fansupport gifts depending on their donation amount. The gifts include photocard, fanmade ticket, drawstring pouch, ceramic coaster, gacha iu acrylic stand, cereal mug, thermos bottle, hanging aroma stone, IU [The Winning] clay figurine, round stickers, etc.

Thanks to the generosity of KU-AENA, we managed to raise 140% of our initial target (RM30,000) by the end of the campaign.

3. Announcements

Prior to the event, we shared the following posts to ensure the smooth running of the show and our fan project:

#2 Fansupport

For 2024, we wanted to celebrate our long-lasting friendship with IU, so we picked yellow, which symbolises friendship and joy, as the main color and theme of our Kuala Lumpur concert fan project. 

Fan project items were delivered to iMe MY staff at Axiata Arena on June 4th.

1. Welcome Gifts for IU and IU's Mom

  • chinKU-AENA Album Message Book

We gifted IU an album that contains KU-AENA's heartfelt messages for IU, a CD card, stickers, PC, postcards, etc to give HER the complete album experience πŸ’› Thank you to the sweetest IU for sharing photos of our fan project on her Instagram ^^

T/N: The term 'μΉœμΏ μ• λ‚˜' (chinKU-AENA) is inspired by and derived from the word '친ꡬ' (chingoo) which means 'friend' in Korean and 'μΏ μ• λ‚˜' (KU-AENA), the nickname given by IU to her Malaysia fans (KUala lumpur + UAENA).

  • Scented Candle Set

Nothing makes us happier than knowing IU sleeps well. So we gifted IU a locally handpoured scented candle set for calm and relaxation. The message card reads, "Tonight, we send the glow of candles to somewhere near your window. It means 'Kami sayang IU'"πŸ•―οΈπŸ’Œ *

  • IU [The Winning] Clay Figurine

In 2023, we gifted IU a handcrafted clay figurine of crybaby Aesoon as part of our coffee truck support for 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' and her reaction was priceless! So here we are, back with another clay figurine inspired by IU's 'Capitalism Angel' look from her 6th Album [The Winning].

  • Flower Bouquet

Bouquet is a must for significant occasion such as the 2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT IN KUALA LUMPUR, so we sent a yellow one with a YOOHOO greeting card to cheer on IU backstage~ The message card reads, "Ballad, Disco, Hip-Hop. It doesn't matter as we look forward to it all! Fighting for today's concert! KU-AENAs are all supporting you!"*

  • Seat Cushions

IU and her mom are known for their sweet gesture of gifting presents such as seat cushions and door gifts to UAENA who attend IU's concert, and we wanted to return the favor! The seat cushions are made of soft velvet fabric on one side, and anti-slip material on the other side. We added double thick layers of cotton inside for extra fluffiness and comfort. They also come with MYIU's side label and a specially designed heart pattern featuring YOOHOO~

2. Backstage Photozone

  • Custom Made Floral Mirror

With the help of iMe Malaysia's staff, we set up a custom-made tall mirror for KU-AENA's Tiny Leader IU to take photos in her dressing room πŸ–€πŸͺžπŸ€³πŸ»

The words on the mirror reads, "KU-AENA'S TINY LEADER. Fly High to BLOOM." featuring HOLSSI (dandelion seeds) flying all around.

#TMI: The staff of iMe Malaysia shared with us that the flowers attached to our mirror was used as part of IU's hair accessory for the Kuala Lumpur show! "When we arrived at the dressing room, the mirror was gone and flowers were scattered across the table after they used it for IU's hairdo." Our observant admin also discovered that IU plucked a few remaining flowers from the mirror to gift to the audience of day 2 concert lol

IU's hairstylist (@kimggotbi) posted a close up shot of the DIY hair accessory with lavender flowers from our mirror on IG and IU commented, "Teacher ggotbi's hand is ggot (flower) hand" (Meaning: A golden hand that works wonders).

3. Backstage Refreshments for IU TEAM

To ensure IU and her team feel welcomed, we carefully packed a delectable assortments of classic beloved Malaysia snacks and drinks for them. Each bag comes with four random types of snacks (i.e., Mamee, Super Ring, ShoyueMi, Popo Fish Muruku, LOT 100 Sour Plus Gummies), a carbonated isotonic drink (100 PLUS) and a thank-you card from MYIU. A total of 160 bags (80 pax per day) were placed backstage with the help of iMe Malaysia staff. 

The thank-you card reads, "The 2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT IN KUALA LUMPUR is even more perfect thanks to you. KU-AENA is rooting for IU TEAM!"

4. Fan Events During Concert

  • Handbanner Event

A handbanner and instruction paper were placed under each seat in advance by the staff of iMe Malaysia for both days. IU took photos with our handbanners after the show too~

  • Fan Sing-Along Event Before Encore + Fanchant Guide Book

In March 2024, we asked what songs you all would like to sing for IU, and Heart (day 1) and Through the Night (day 2) were voted by majority as the fan sing-along event song choices before the final encore. We also prepared a digital copy of fanchant book for UAENAs to practice before the show!

5. Rice Wreaths, Flower Stands, Standing Banners

  • Flower Stands

Flower stands from IU Malaysia Fanpage (MYIU) and IU's international fansites - Utopia, Iaroundu_HK, IU Australia, IU DC Gallery, Singapore Heart IU, USAena, SingaenaTV and Singaenas x IU Telegram were displayed backstage for IU and IU Team to view. The flower stands were featured in Kuala Lumpur's special concert VCR too!

  • Outdoor Photozone

Life-size banners and instagram feed-style frame were displayed at Prisms by Axiata (nearby the main entrance of Axiata Arena).

6. Others

  • 'UAENA CHEERLEADING SQUAD' Business Card

During day 2 concert, IU was so impressed by the cheers of KU-AENA that she asked those who're interested to go on tour with her as her cheerleading squad to leave their business card (contact). With the help of ν•˜κ·Έ (iu_whiteshadow), μœ„λ‹ˆμΆ” (wyjc516), a KU-AENA who wishes to remain anonymous, we managed to pass the business card filled with UAENA's autographs to IU~

  • #KUAENA_SMILING_CHALLENGE

During day 2 concert, IU suggested KU-AENA to participate in a challenge where we upload our smiley faces on social media so she can take a look and gain strength from it. #3 Rejected Fanprojects 

1. Fingerlights 

We initially proposed to provide yellow (day 1) and pink (day 2) fingerlights for all audience of the Kuala Lumpur show. It was rejected by the artist management as they wished to have only IU OFFICIAL LIGHTSTICK I-KE in the hall for centralised light coordination. 

2. Souvenir for IU TEAM

We initially proposed to gift each IU TEAM staff member a custom-made acrylic keychain as souvenir for the Kuala Lumpur show. It was later replaced by backstage refreshments for practical reasons.
